Woods’ Victory Draws Record Viewership
Tiger Woods’ drawing power delivered an overnight rating for the final round of the Masters of 15.8, the highest for any golf tournament in history, and attracted a 32% share of the audience.
The 15.8 overnight rating is a 65% increase over the 9.6 for the final round of last year’s Masters.
The final half-hour of Sunday’s Masters drew a 22.2 rating with a 40 share, meaning 22.2% of all television households were watching the Masters and 40% of all households where television sets were turned on were tuned in to the Masters.
The 22.2 is CBS’ highest half-hour overnight rating for a program of any kind in more than three years. The final half-hour of the Arkansas-Duke NCAA championship game in 1994 got a 23.1.
