Patrick Ewing issued a statement denying any sexual harassment of two flight attendants who quit working on the New York Knicks’ private jet.

“Allegations have been made against me and my teammates which I feel compelled to respond to immediately,” Ewing said. “These charges have no merit and are absolutely false. I have no idea why anybody would be motivated to make these outrageous claims.”

The New York Post reported the women’s allegations Wednesday. They claim they were harassed by Ewing and another team member who was not named.

The Denver Nuggets say their 1996 first-round draft pick, Greek center Efthimios Rentzias, isn’t ready for the NBA.

Allen Bristow, the Nuggets vice president of basketball operation, said, “I think it’s going to take a while for him to be an NBA player. He’s quite a project. The bottom line is, he won’t be able to help us next year.”

Bristow said he will try to trade Rentzias’ draft rights, and if that fails, the Nuggets will keep Rentzias in Europe to work on his game.
