The Clippers got a scare in Saturday’s game at Seattle when guard Brent Barry fell to the court near the Clipper bench without being touched and came up holding his right knee with 2:45 remaining in the first quarter.

But Barry, who sat out the first 14 games of the season because of a thumb injury, wasn’t injured and had five points and two rebounds in 17 minutes.

Do the Clippers, who have lost 14 consecutive games to the Jazz at Salt Lake City, have any chance to win their first-round series?

“They’ve got a lot better chance than Sacramento or Golden State,” Laker Coach Del Harris said Friday night. “They’ve got a chance. You can’t tell any of those guys they don’t have a chance because they’re very competitive people.

“They’ve got to make it as tough as possible for [Karl] Malone, [John] Stockton and [Jeff] Hornaceck and they’ve got to make some shots.”

Coach Bill Fitch, who guided the Boston Celtics to the 1981 NBA title, has now taken teams to the playoffs in all four divisions--the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets and the Clippers. He also coached the New Jersey Nets to the playoffs.

Fitch plans to hold a mini-camp this week to prepare the Clippers for the playoffs.

Fitch will hold two practices a day before the Clippers depart for Salt Lake City on Tuesday.
