Murray Honored for Golf Columns

Times columnist Jim Murray has been awarded the Lincoln Werden Memorial Award for excellence in golf journalism by the Metropolitan Golf Writers Assn. in Elmsford, N.Y.

He will be honored at the association’s national awards dinner in Rye Brook, N.Y., on Aug. 11.

Among his many honors, Murray, 76, won a Pulitzer Prize for commentary in 1989 and was awarded the PGA lifetime achievement award in journalism in 1993.
