Indiana Pacer Coach Larry Brown is reportedly meeting with Boston Celtic owner Paul Gaston next week to discuss replacing M.L. Carr as coach.

Carr is expected to give up the job he held the past two seasons after Boston (15-67) posted the worst record in its history.

Former NBA coach John Lucas said he’s a candidate for the vacant coaching job in Denver.

“They contacted me and I’m going to interview Tuesday,” Lucas told Houston’s KRIV-TV.

Lucas has a 136-171 career coaching record over four years, two in San Antonio and two in Philadelphia. He was fired by the 76ers after the 1995-96 season and was out of basketball this past season.

Charlotte guard Muggsy Bogues said a delicate hamstring probably will keep him out of today’s game against the New York Knicks. He left early in the third quarter Thursday and didn’t return as New York won the opener, 109-99.
