Lamb Keys Titan Sweep of Nevada in Baseball

Cal State Fullerton beat host Nevada, 13-9, in a Big West Conference baseball game Sunday and became the first team to sweep Nevada at home since 1993.

Mike Lamb had two hits and drove in four runs for the Titans (29-19-1, 17-7), who scored five runs in the second inning and never trailed after that.

Mike Greenlee gave up a hit and an unearned run in the final 2 1/3 innings for his sixth save.

Ryan Owens had two doubles and drove in two runs and Pete Fukuhara also had a double and drove in two runs for Fullerton.

Andy Dominique hit his 21st home run of the season and 53rd of his career for Nevada (31-16, 15-9).

In another conference game:

Long Beach 8, New Mexico State 6--Ara Petrosian gave up two hits and no runs in the final two innings for his third save in the series and 11th of the season for visiting Long Beach State (30-18, 20-4).

Petrosian entered after New Mexico State’s Jeremy Booth hit a two-run homer, his 13th of the season. The pair were teammates last year at Cypress College.

Toby Sanchez had two doubles and drove in three runs and Paul Day had a run-scoring single and two sacrifice flies for Long Beach.

In Big West Conference softball:

Cal State Fullerton 2-1, Long Beach 1-4--Jana Oetgen (14-10) pitched a six-hitter and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the seventh to help host Fullerton earn a split with 19th-ranked Long Beach.

Oetgen also had a run-scoring single to drive in Fullerton’s first run. Christy Sears drove in the other run on a fielder’s choice.
