Worrell Punches Wall, Breaks Hand
San Diego right-hander Tim Worrell broke his left hand when he punched a wall after being taken out for a pinch hitter in Friday night’s 7-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds, Manager Bruce Bochy said.
Worrell was lifted in the fifth inning after giving up five runs on eight hits in five innings.
Bochy said Worrell was to meet with team doctors, but indicated it was likely he would become San Diego’s ninth player to go on the disabled list this season.
Worrell is 2-4 with a 4.66 earned-run average.
