Baize Takes Hollywood Park Feature
Baize, a 9-1 shot ridden by Matt Garcia, moved in front on the backstretch and held off fast-closing Hard To Copy on Thursday in the $45,720 feature race at Hollywood Park.
Carrying 116 pounds in the 5 1/2-furlong turf race for fillies and mares aged 3 and older, Baize finished 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Hard To Copy, with React three more lengths behind in third.
Baize, a 4-year-old daughter of Efisio bred in England, was clocked in 1:02 2/5. Hard To Copy, ridden by apprentice J.G. Matos, came from next-to-last to take second.
Baize paid $18, $9.60 and $6.40, Hard To Copy returned $7 and $4.60, and React paid $4 to show.
