Tracking: Track and field athletes Anthony Colson of Sacramento Center High, Chris Forde of Notre Dame and Anthony Meier of Sacramento City College have signed letters of intent with Cal State Northridge.

Colson won the triple jump and placed fourth in the long jump in state championships in Sacramento on June 7. He has bests of 51-3 in the triple jump and 23-4 3/4 in the long jump.

Forde set a school record of 47.80 to win the 400 meters in the Southern Section Division III championships and tied for sixth in the state meet.

Meier, who missed the state junior college championships last month due to injury, has a best of 51.53 in the 400 intermediate hurdles.

Back in the pack: Jason Gore of Valencia, who won the California Amateur golf title last Saturday, was tied for 10th place after Wednesday’s second round of the California State Open at Indian Wells Country Club and Resort.

Gore was five shots off the lead after shooting a two-under-par 70 for a 36-hole total of six-under-par 138.

Joon Lee of Fullerton led at 133.

Passing lane: Agoura, Antelope Valley, Camarillo, Highland, Kennedy, Notre Dame, Oxnard, Taft and Westlake high schools will play in the Tournament of Champions, a football passing competition Saturday at Muir High in Pasadena.

Agoura faces Mater Dei, Taft plays Highland and Camarillo takes on Corona Centennial in games beginning at 10 a.m. Games beginning at 11 a.m. include Oxnard vs. Ayala, Notre Dame vs. Kennedy and Antelope Valley vs. Westlake.

Making a splash: The La Canada Water Polo Foundation “A” team, comprised of players from La Canada High, placed second in the San Clemente 17-and-under tournament last weekend.

La Canada’s girls had a 2-3 record in the Magnolia 17-and-under tournament.
