Clinic Zooms In on Avocado Tree Pests

Share

A free homeowner’s clinic on avocado tree pests will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Buena High School auditorium in Ventura at 5670 Telegraph Road.

The focus will be on “Fighting New Pests of Avocados Biologically.”

Ventura County’s avocado trees are threatened by the persea mite and brown thrip, which defoliate the trees over time.

Tree owners are encouraged to bring leaf samples for evaluation by landscape insect ecologists. Microscope equipment will be provided for tree owners to use.
