Santa Margarita Storms Past Villa Park, 60-44

Three three-pointers by Ryan Forehan-Kelly in the second half helped Santa Margarita beat Villa Park, 60-44, in Friday’s semifinals of the National Sports Grill tournament at Loara High.

Forehan-Kelly finished with four three-pointers and 20 points.

Chris Hillman led Villa Park with 15 points. The Spartans (2-1) were 13 of 13 from the free-throw line and led by one point at halftime, 25-24. The Eagles (3-0) plays San Bernardino Pacific in today’s championship game.

In the other semifinal game:

San Bernardino Pacific 68, Servite 57--Mike Hall scored 21 points and Chaun Ballard had 19 to lead Pacific into the championship game. Servite (2-1) led 32-25 at the half, but the Friars were limited to eight points in the third quarter.

Steve Shea led Servite with 27 points.

In a consolation games:

El Dorado 63, Woodbridge 56--Mike Garther led the visiting Golden Hawks with 18 points.

In the Buena Park Coyote Classic:

Buena Park 54, Saddleback 44--Brian McDonald and DeAndre Gipson each scored 12 points to lead Buena Park (3-0), which advances to the championship game today at 8 p.m.

In the Daily Pilot tournament:

Sonora 54, Newport Harbor 53--Gary Robinson hit a three-pointer with nine seconds remaining to put Newport Harbor (2-1) ahead, 53-52. But Joe Worthy made a layup with one second left to give Sonora (3-0) the victory and advance them to today’s final vs. Long Beach Poly at 8 p.m.

In the San Luis Obispo Tournament:

Mater Dei 70, San Clemente 59--Steve Scoggin scored 22 points and had 12 assists in a semifinal victory for Mater Dei (2-0). Teammate Imran Sufi scored 12 points for the Monarchs.

Mater Dei plays the winner of Santa Barbara San Marcos-San Luis Obispo in today’s championship game.

Semaj Johnson scored 33 points for San Clemente.

In nonleague boys’ soccer:

Calvary Chapel 3, University 2--Morgan Bunnel scored what turned out to be the winning goal in the 29th minute for Calvary Chapel (2-0). Mike Coons scored two goals for University (0-2-1).

Santa Ana 2, Century 1--Defender Mario Gonzalez tied the score at 1-1 for Santa Ana (2-0) off a corner kick in the second half. Israel Lazo knocked in a penalty kick in 70th minute to win the game for Santa Ana.

Sonora 1, Anaheim 0--Nathon Ballard scored on a penalty kick in the 70th minute after Jon West was fouled in the box. Sonora goalkeepers David Valle and Jacob Boggs combined for six saves.

In the Benson Splash girls’ water polo Invitational:

Santa Barbara 2, Marina 0--Cassie Nicholes scored the game-winner in the second quarter in the quarterfinal game.

In the Irvine tournament:

Santa Margarita 5, Arroyo Grande 4 (sudden death)--Gena Gajdos scored the winning goal in sudden death overtime to lead Santa Margarita (2-0). Nicole Kleiman led the Eagles with two goals. Santa Margarita will face El Toro today.
