For its regular December holiday concert, the Los Angeles Master Chorale this year presents a classical first half, a lighter closing section and a Hanukkah group featuring Michael Isaacson’s “A Choral Suite for Hanukkah.” Along with music by Gabrieli, Palestrina, Poulenc and Conrad Susa, the first part will offer two world premieres, works by Morten Lauridsen and Leo Nestor.

3 pm: Family

“The Magic Mirror,” the long-running children’s show at the Third Stage Theatre in Burbank, will be presented by Towne Street Theatre in a special performance at the Pasadena Arts Space. The theater improvisational show, aimed at ages 5 to 12, is performed by the adult Magic Mirror Players, who use ideas from the audience in a series of comic sketches.

1 pm: Crafts

In conjunction with its annual Jewelry and Glass Extravaganza of contemporary creations in blown and fused glass, silver, copper, dichroic and found objects, Riverside’s Art Works Gallery presents a holiday open house and ornament exchange. Bring an ornament to the gallery Sunday between 1 and 4 p.m., and take one home when you leave. Cash donations will also be accepted for Alternatives to Domestic Violence.

Experience a turn-of-the-century California Christmas at the Homestead Museum in Industry. Highlights include tours of the historic Workman and Temple family homes, holiday music and refreshments, vintage cars, a petting zoo and performances of Victorian Christmas carols by the Fleet Street Band. The traditional rancho play “Las Posadas” will be presented by the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Pomona. Ian Whitcomb and his Bungalow Boys will perform jazz.

5 pm: Festival

Reenact the pilgrimage of Joseph and Mary at a Las Posadas festival at the Bowers Museum of Cultural Art. The festival is based on traditional Mexican Christmas celebrations and commemorates the couple’s search for lodging on the night of Christ’s birth with singing, pinatas, lights, folklorico dancing, traditional refreshments and a procession.

Cool sounds of the season are on tap when Jazz Trax Presents a Christmas Concert. Trumpeter Rick Braun, saxophonist Paul Taylor, guitarists Jonathan Butler and Mark Antoine, bassist Slim Man and others gather to celebrate the holidays in smooth jazz style.
