Orlando Magic guard Penny Hardaway underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a small cartilage tear in his left knee and is expected to be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks.
The surgery was performed on the same knee that forced Hardaway to sit out 23 games last season.

Isaiah Rider was fined by the Portland Trail Blazers for missing practice Tuesday but was in the starting lineup Wednesday night against the Indiana Pacers.
Portland Coach Mike Dunleavy said the fine was “about $2,000.” Rider has missed two practices and one shootaround this season.
Rider said after Wednesday’s shootaround that he missed the practice to attend to “personal business.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers signed General Manager Wayne Embry to a two-year contract extension. . . . New Jersey Net forward Chris Gatling will be sidelined two to three weeks because of a stress fracture in his right leg. . . . Phoenix Sun guard Rex Chapman will sit out today’s game against the Atlanta Hawks because of a strained left hamstring, but is listed as day-to-day and will travel with the team on its upcoming five-game trip, the team said. . . . Boston Celtic guard Dee Brown was put on the injured list because of flu.
