Bailey Goes Distance in Leading Hueneme

Robert Collins scored 24 points for Hueneme High in a 91-88 double-overtime victory over Santa Maria in a Channel Islands tournament pool-play game, but it was Carlos Bailey who kept extending the contest until his team could pull out the victory.
Bailey hit a pair of free throws near the end of regulation to tie the score, 71-71, and his steal and layin after a Collins three-pointer tied the score at 79 just before time expired at the close of the first overtime.
Notre Dame 71, Burbank 68--John Murray scored 19 points to lead the Knights (4-1) in a nonleague game at Notre Dame.
Nordhoff 56, Carpinteria 55--Etienne Emmanuel scored six of the the Rangers’ 10 overtime points, including two free throws with 10 seconds remaining in a semifinal at the Fillmore tournament.
Chatsworth 68, Sylmar 52--Richard Harrison had 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Chancellors (5-2) in a nonconference game at home.
Verdugo Hills 61, Lincoln 42--Joseph Dural had 19 points and eight rebounds for the Dons (2-4, 2-0) in the Northern Conference game at Lincoln.
Flintridge Prep 45, Oakwood 22--Evan Cablyan scored 14 points and Devin Brown had 10 for the Rebels (1-2) in the nonleague game at Flintridge Prep.
GIRLS
Cleveland 50, Sylmar 31--Freshman Arielle Thomas had 13 points and Mishawn Simms had 10 points and seven assists for the Cavaliers (5-1) in a nonconference game at Cleveland.
San Fernando 58, Poly 43--Maria Castellanos had 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Tigers (2-4) in a nonconference victory at Poly.
Birmingham 76, Reseda 30--Tanya Silva had 22 points and eight assists and Octavia Askew had 20 points and six steals for the Braves (2-1) in a nonleague game at Reseda.
El Camino Real 91, Chaminade 35--Cara Blumfield had 34 points and 11 assists and Leslie Lara had 11 points and 12 steals for the Conquistadores (3-0) in an intersectional game at Chaminade.
Burroughs 44, Mission Prep 40--Chantel Jimenez scored 18 points and Joanna Garrick had seven points and 16 rebounds for the Indians (4-0) in a semifinal of the Cabrillo tournament.
