Oregon 78, Loyola Marymount 73--Five players scored in double figures for the Ducks (3-3), who held off the Lions (1-6) at Eugene, Ore.

Oregon had its biggest lead at 78-58 with 3:52 left before Loyola Marymount came back and trailed, 76-71, with 59 seconds left. That was as close as the Lions could get.

Tarik Brown had 16 points for Oregon, which shot 57%. Hayward Eaddy had 17 points and five assists, and Kenny Hotopp had 15 points and seven rebounds for Loyola Marymount.

Brigham Young 53, Pepperdine 52--Bart Jepsen’s 14-foot jumper with 27.4 seconds left was the decisive basket for the Cougars (3-6) as they won their own tournament at Provo, Utah.

Pepperdine (5-3) got a basket by Gerald Brown with 2:15 left to take a 52-51 lead.

Brown missed the last shot of the game, with BYU’s Brian Hamilton getting the rebound as time expired.

Tournament most valuable player Mekeli Wesley, Justin Weidauer and Danny Bower each had 12 points for BYU.

Brown and Jelani Gardner led Pepperdine with 13 points each.
