Eaddy Has Big Game for Lions

Aaron Butler came off the bench to score 18 points and Paul Krasinski added 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Brown to a 70-65 victory over Loyola Marymount on Sunday, snapping Brown’s five-game losing skid.

The Bears (3-7) overcame an outstanding performance by Haywood Eaddy, who scored a career-high 30 points to lead the Lions (2-7), with 26 of those points coming in the second half.

Brown built its biggest lead at the half when Oggie Kapetanovic made two free throws with 34 seconds left to give Brown a 33-17 lead. It was the Lions’ lowest first half output of the season.

Loyola Marymount’s pressure defense in the second half forced 13 turnovers, and brought the Lions to within two points of the Bears, 49-47, on a three-point jumper by Ben Ammerman. But Brown responded with a 9-2 run.

The physical game saw 29 fouls called on the Lions. Brown made 21 of 34 free throws. Loyola Marymount went three for six from the free-throw line.

Kapetanovic scored a season-high 11 points for Brown and grabbing a career-high nine rebounds. Victor Lesley also scored in the double figures for the Bears with 10 points.
