Shervin Saedinia

Calabasas, Junior

Singles

Was the only player other than Marissa Irvin from the region to reach the Southern Section individual quarterfinals after being a doubles finalist in 1996. Played No.1 singles for Calabasas, a freelance team that reached the Division IV semifinals, losing to eventual champion Chaminade. Saedinia lost one set all season in dual-match play.

Brooke Borlsoff

Agoura, Freshman

Singles

Went 65-5 her first season at the high school level, reaching the third round of the Southern Section individual tournament. Won the Marmonte League title with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Lyndsey Tadlock of Thousand Oaks. The Chargers finished third in the league and advanced to the second round of the Division III playoffs.

Margo O’Donnell

Junior

Rebecca Hunau

Sophomore

Simi Valley

Doubles

Although they played on different doubles teams most of the season, O’Donnell and Hunau were instrumental in helping the Pioneers win a share of the Marmonte League title. Together, O’Donnell and Hunau were 21-1, reaching the quarterfinals of the Southern Section individual tournament. O’Donnell was 43-2, Hunau 42-3

Leslie Musser

Van Nuys, Senior

Singles

Reached the semifinals of the City Section individual tournament. Recovered from a knee injury to play No. 1 singles to lead Wolves to Valley Pac-8 Conference title and semifinals of the City 4-A playoffs.

Chaminade, Junior

Singles

Played No. 1 singles for most of the season for the Eagles, who lost Mission League title to Harvard-Westlake but won Southern Section Division IV title after losing in final last year.

Shaland Romero

Burroughs, Senior

Singles

Won Foothill League singles title, defeating Jenny Munroe of Hart in three sets after splitting two sets during the regular season. Lost only three matches all season.

Karen Fung and Caryn Linder

Senior and Freshman

Ventura

Doubles

Finished third in City Section doubles tournament and finished 18-2. Helped Highlanders to an undefeated regular season, the Northwest Valley Conference championship and the City 4-A semifinals.
