STINGRAYS TODAY

Share

Opponent--Portland Power.

Time--4 p.m.

Records--Portland 17-10, Long Beach 14-10.

Site--Pyramid, Long Beach State.

Update--The StingRays launch the longest home stand of their 44-game schedule today with a three-game win streak in the bank. It starts today with conference leader Portland, beaten Saturday night by the StingRays in Portland. Then it’s San Jose on Saturday, Seattle on Sunday and Atlanta on Jan. 6. Long Beach travels to San Jose for a Jan. 7 game with the Lasers, then tries an experiment with the Jan. 10 New England game at the Pond, to see if playing in a major arena will boost its ABL-worst attendance. Long Beach hopes it can duplicate Saturday’s defensive job on Power center Natalie Williams, who had 18 points but none in the last 3 1/2 minutes. Venus Lacy injured her right knee in the third quarter but came back to play and is expected to play today.
