Trade Group Plans 2-Week Trip to China

Share

In an effort to promote commerce between Central California and China, delegates from businesses in the tri-county area will embark on a trade mission to Hong Kong and mainland China in October.

Representatives from the Ventura County business community are encouraged to join the group, which event planners expect will total 15 to 20 members.

The two-week visit, organized by the California Central Coast World Trade Center and the Western Region of the U.S.-China Chamber of Commerce, is an extension of the 28th World Trade Center Assn.’s General Assembly, to be held Oct. 6-9 in Hong Kong. Delegates will attend meetings with Chinese representatives and thousands of other delegates from more than 300 World Trade Center branches worldwide.

The annual meeting serves to encourage the development of trade on a global scale, said Gary Snyder, executive director of the trade center.

Trade center intern Richard Wang said the participating industries have traditionally included agriculture, biochemistry, environmental science and technology. But Wang said he encourages executives from other industries to get involved.

The deadline to join is July 31. The cost has not yet been determined. For more information, call Wang or program director Rosanne Bell at 988-1406 or e-mail WTC@Isle.net
