Brad Davis, an assistant basketball coach at San Clemente the last two seasons, has been named head coach. Davis, 31, replaces Ed Coyle, who resigned to become coach at Chaparral , a new high school opening this fall in Temecula Valley.

This will be Davis’ third head coaching job. He was the varsity coach at Pasadena Blair in 1992-93 and 1993-94, and in the 1994-95 season he was the coach and athletic director at Mission Hills Tri-City Christian.

“It will be a smooth transition,” said Davis, who will also teach English at San Clemente. “I’m not planning any big changes other than I want us to be a bit more aggressive on defense. This is a great situation; we’ve got great kids and all four levels of the program are going strong. I hope to be here awhile.”
