Brea’s McConnell Wins the Main Event

COSTA MESA — Shawn McConnell of Brea won the four-lap scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program in front of an announced crowd of 8,112 Saturday night at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano finished second and Billy Hamill of Monrovia placed third.
Oxley also won the eight-lap handicap main event, McConnell was second and Steve Lucero of San Pablo third.
