VENTURA--The Artwalk and Java Jump will have visitors hopping from gallery to museum to coffeehouse, 6-10 p.m. Saturday. More than 40 venues, most in the downtown area, will take part. There will be art exhibits; entertainment, including a mime and music; poetry and pottery demonstrations; and some free refreshments. Start at City Hall, 501 Poli St., where there will be storytelling, kids’ crafts and puppet shows--also information, maps and shuttles, if needed, to Artwalk sites. Free. (805) 658-4726.

BIG BEAR LAKE--Several events will be held over the next two weekends as part of the Old Miners Days celebration. Roping, ax-throwing and reenactments of shootouts are among activities at the Summer Range & Loggers Jubilee, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, July 27 at Big Bear Lake Convention Center, 42900 Big Bear Blvd.; $3 per person. There will also be a Doo Dah Parade, 10 a.m. Saturday along California 38 in Fawnskin, on the north side of Big Bear Lake; free. On Aug. 2, there will be free games and crafts for kids 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Big Bear Lake’s Meadow Park, on Park Avenue, and at 12:30 a parade along Big Bear Boulevard with about 200 entries. Free. SANTA BARBARA--Greek food and folk dancing will be featured at the 24th annual Greek Festival, put on Saturday and July 27 by the local St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church. CAMP NELSON--The Sequoia National Forest is the alfresco setting for the Mountain Festival, Aug. 2-3, beginning at 10 a.m. both days. There will be kids’ games, a trained-animals show and target shooting with old-fashioned black-powder pistols. MONTEREY--Costumed knights will battle hand-to-hand with “Highlanders” at the Scottish/Irish Festival & Games, Aug. 2-3.
