Shaw Will Replace Shehee

Washington Coach Jim Lambright announced that sophomore Maurice Shaw will replace injured Rashaan Shehee, the Pac-10’s leading rusher, at tailback Saturday against Oregon. And Marques Tuiasosopo could become the first freshman to start at quarterback for the Huskies if injured Brock Huard, who leads the nation in passing efficiency, is also held out of the game.

John Avery had a school-record 97-yard touchdown run and Mississippi converted two Arkansas turnovers into touchdowns in beating the Razorbacks, 19-9, in a Southeastern Conference game Thursday night at Oxford, Miss. . . . Texas Tech announced that it will not accept a possible bowl bid or a berth in the Big 12 title game, citing recent allegations of widespread NCAA rules violations in the athletic department. The decision came four days after Tech released a 57-page NCAA letter detailing alleged multiple rules violations in 18 areas. . . . Tennessee freshman running back Travis Henry has been suspended for the final four regular-season games. Coach Phillip Fulmer said Henry violated a team rule, but did not elaborate.
