Grant Hill Wants Badly to Be in ‘Bad’ Company

Grant Hill of the Pistons is constantly reminded by fans that the Detroit “Bad Boys” of 1989 and 1990 won NBA championships and his team hasn’t.

“I want a ring and I want it bad,” he says. “Everybody tells me to be patient. They tell me it took Isiah [Thomas] a long time before he won one [in his eighth season]. It took Michael [Jordan] a long time before he won one [in his seventh season].

“And I know Patrick [Ewing] and Charles [Barkley] are still trying to get one. But it’s hard to be patient.”

Hill won’t get any sympathy from Jerry West. The Lakers didn’t win an NBA championship until 1972, his 12th season.
