Chiefs Try Broncos Again

Share

The Broncos have won 23 of their last 27 regular-season games, and besides all but clinching the AFC West Division title, they can maintain their edge in securing home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. As if they needed any more help, they get the revenge-minded Chiefs without quarterback Elvis Grbac, sidelined because of a broken collarbone. Rich Gannon failed miserably in relief of Grbac last week in Jacksonville, but maybe the Chiefs were looking ahead.

Denver won the season opener 19-3, and has all hands available for the rematch, with Neil Smith making his first trip back to Arrowhead Stadium since signing with the Broncos.

Terrell Davis has run for more than 100 yards in two of his four starts against the Chiefs, and quarterback John Elway is the man who kept former Cleveland coach Marty Schottenheimer out of the Super Bowl, probably leading to Schottenheimer’s departure and new post in Kansas City. Schottenheimer, who has never had a losing season, has a 7-13 record against the Broncos.
