Camron King scored three touchdowns to lead Savanna to a 27-0 victory over host Anaheim on Thursday night at Western High, assuring the Rebels no worse than second place in the Orange League.

Anaheim (0-10, 0-5 in league), celebrating its 100th year and 79th football season, had the dubious distinction of going winless for the first time in its history.

Savanna (7-3, 4-1) scored on the third play of the game when Jason Brown broke through for a 60-yard touchdown run.

Cesar Ramirez connected on his first of three conversions to give the Rebels a 7-0 lead.

The Colonists had their most successful drive to end the first quarter. Anaheim started on its 28 and drove to the Rebel 15. On the opening play of the second quarter, the Colonists shifted into a shotgun formation and it proved disastrous.

Peter Hernandez intercepted a pass and returned it to the Anaheim 38. A clipping penalty by Anaheim gave the Rebels the ball on the Anaheim 23, ending the only Anaheim threat of the game.

Five plays later, after successfully pulling the Colonists offsides on fourth and one to keep the short drive alive, King scored from the nine to give Savanna a 14-0 edge.

Two other Rebel second-half drives were halted on fourth-down rushes that were stopped short.

A 43-yard punt return by Leon Kellum set up a 16-yard scoring drive for Savanna in the third quarter. King scored from the six.

Kellum’s 59-yard interception return to the Anaheim five early in the fourth quarter set up the final Savanna touchdown. King ran in from the five-yard line for the score.
