With Scully and Hearn, the Radio Is His Friend
Like many other people, I find myself on the freeway late at night returning home from work and dependent on the radio for sports news. At these times I am reminded of how blessed we are in Southern California to have announcers such as Vin Scully and Chick Hearn.
Scully doing the World Series was classic stuff, and Hearn’s play-by-play of Laker games reminds me of a time when radio was the only way to hear a sporting event. Although Chick’s skills have been criticized the last few years, I hope that he continues to put them in the popcorn machine with no harm, no foul, and that he keeps closing the door of the refrigerator for many years to come.
