In the Victory League:

Bloomington Christian 34, Heritage Christian 14--Host Bloomington Christian used four scoring plays of more than 30 yards.

Russell Pope led the Bruin attack in the first half, scoring touchdowns on runs of 30 and 42 yards. Pope finished the game with 189 yards in 18 carries.

Capistrano Valley Christian 14, Riverside Bethel Christian 7--Ryan Allen connected with Jamie Tellier on a 40-yard touchdown pass to give Capistrano Valley Christian a 14-7 lead with 9:23 left in the game. The pass, Allen’s only completion of the game, helped the Eagles snap a three-game losing streak.

Downey Calvary Chapel 46, Southern California Christian 8-- Chad White scored the only touchdown of the game for Southern California Christian in the first quarter on a 15-yard run at SCC.

James Brantley carried the ball 13 times for 155 yards for SCC (1-3).

Calvary Chapel (2-2) got two touchdowns from Daniel Vanzile and Jaime Banuelos and one each from Sean Kelbert and Matthew Madrid. Vanzile finished with 155 yards in 10 carries.

In nonleague play:

Whittier La Serna 17, Brethren Christian 10--Brian Pappagalo scored his first touchdown of the year on an 18-yard run in the first quarter, but La Serna defeated Brethren Christian, 17-10, Friday at Whittier California High School.

La Serna (2-2) followed Pappagalo’s score with 10 unanswered points to take a 10-7 lead at halftime. Brethren Christian (2-2) added a field goal by place-kicker Keith Witt to tie the score, 10-10, at the end of the third quarter.

Brethren Christian running back Adrian Castillo, who rushed for 87 yards in 23 carries, sustained a concussion and was taken to La Palma Community Hospital.
