UCI Women Shut Out Pepperdine in Soccer

Nicole Bucciarelli’s goal in the 29th minute proved to be the winner as visiting UC Irvine shut out Pepperdine, 1-0, Wednesday in a nonconference women’s soccer game.

Bucciarelli’s goal gives her 10 for the season. She has five assists.

It is the fifth time this season that Pepperdine (3-8) has been shut out. Irvine goalkeeper Kirsten Roy had three saves off eight shots.

In another nonconference game:

Cal State Fullerton 2, CS Northridge 1--Shawna Panter and Dolores Browning each scored a goal in the second half to rally the Titans. They outshot Northridge, 20-6. Goalkeeper Marla Nelson had three saves for the Titans.

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s soccer:

Fresno Pacific 1, Southern California College 0 (OT)--Jarrod Souza scored the winner with nine minutes left in overtime for Fresno Pacific (9-1, 2-1). Mathew Resor had 10 saves for SCC (6-7, 1-2).

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Weber State 3, Cal State Fullerton 0--The Titans could not get any offense going in the 15-4, 15-6, 16-14 loss. Katie Crawford had 20 kills and Stephanie Cargill had 13 to lead the Titans (8-9). Melissa Leonard had 17 kills for Weber State (8-11).
