‘Sneak a Peak’ Piques Interest in School
Peekaboo will have new meaning this year for some elementary students in Los Alamitos Unified School District.
In Oak Middle School’s Sneak a Peek program, parents with children at the school can set up tours so that they can take a “peek” at what their kids are learning. People in the community also may take tours.
Oak Principal Barbara O’Connor, in a presentation this week at the district board meeting, said the tours have been popular.
Karen Lovelace, principal of McAuliffe Middle School, said McAuliffe also offers tours, as well as staff development days, workshops for students and teachers, and a monthly newsletter.
The board gave its approval for Lisa Rakusin, an Oak parent and Long Beach City College sociology student, to conduct a technology survey of Oak students.
