Four more young suspects were arrested in connection with gunshots fired at Anaheim High School the day before.

All are known gang members who fired shots in a showdown with another gang just as school began, authorities said.

Omar Bribiesca, 18, was arrested in his bedroom Wednesday night as he sat watching television with his brother, Sgt. Paul Gallagher said. A sharpened screwdriver and a baseball bat adorned with gang graffiti also were recovered.

Three other young men--ages 17, 16 and 15, and all from Anaheim--also were arrested after search warrants were served between 8 and 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Joe Vargas said.

“We wanted to move as quickly as possible on this, because it had the potential to escalate beyond what had already occurred,” said Gallagher, who said about a dozen rival gang members faced off in an athletic field shortly after classes began at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A 17-year-old Anaheim youth was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon at his job in Anaheim.

School board President Harald G. Martin, also an Anaheim police officer, was expected to raise the possibility of requiring school uniforms and expelling gang members from school at a board meeting Thursday night.

The two gunshot victims, identified only as a 17-year-old from Anaheim and an 18-year-old from Placentia, were expected to make full recoveries. One was shot in the chin and one in the foot.
