Troy Builds Confidence, Beats Ocean View

Troy was looking to build a little confidence going into next week’s Freeway League opener, so it picked on Ocean View Thursday in a nonleague football game at Fullerton High.

The Warriors shut out the Seahawks, 27-0, behind a series of big offensive plays.

Troy quarterback Stephen Muther, who completed eight of 12 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns, executed the first of those plays--a 40-yard touchdown pass to Ben Reneau--with 1 minute 49 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Adrian Vargas’ kick made it 7-0.

“It was good for us to get this win and our confidence back going into next week’s opener against Sonora,” Muther said. “We had some tough games earlier in the season and we needed to come out and play well. We wanted to go out and run the ball and then pass. The big plays just came up.”

Ocean View is 0-5.
