Newbury Park 28, Camarillo 0--Quarterback Nick Czernek ran for one touchdown and threw for another to lead Newbury Park in a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park.
The Panthers (5-0, 2-0), ranked No. 3 in the region by The Times, opened the scoring on their second possession when Czernek, who completed 17 or 22 for 284 yards, threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Paul Sanford.
Early in the second quarter, running back Ryan Shipton scored the first of his two touchdowns on a 43-yard run. Czernek’s five-yard touchdown run just before halftime gave Newbury Park a 21-0 lead.
The only scoring in the second half came on Shipton’s second touchdown, a run of seven yards one minute into the third quarter. Shipton finished with 69 yards in five carries.
Sanford led Newbury Park receivers with five catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Running back John Howe of Camarillo (0-5, 0-2) had 124 yards in 29 carries.
