Camarillo Does Double Duty

Camarillo High won eight of nine doubles matches to rally for an 11-7 girls’ tennis victory over Thousand Oaks in a Marmonte League match Thursday at Thousand Oaks.

Annie Doud and Jenny Underwood of Camarillo (9-1, 3-0 in league play) lost just three games in three doubles sets after the Scorpions trailed, 6-3, after singles.

Hart 14, Saugus 4--Freshmen singles players Jenny Munroe and Cristina Cancio each swept three sets for the Indians (9-0, 4-0) in a Foothill League match at Saugus.

Munroe (26-1) defeated Krystle Torres, Christie Tran and Esther Loc of Saugus (2-6, 0-4) by 6-0 scores and is 12-0 in league play.

Harvard-Westlake 16, Louisville 2--Marissa Irvin lost one game while winning three sets for the Wolverines (8-2, 5-0) in a Mission League match at Studio City Racquet Center.

GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Thousand Oaks 18, Westlake 41; Thousand Oaks 24, Newbury Park 35; Westlake 27, Newbury Park 29--Freshman Kelley Hess beat junior Melissa McBain to the wire and the Lancers ran away in the Marmonte League meet at Waverly Park.

Hess clocked 19:21 over the three-mile course and McBain timed 19:45 to help the three-time defending league champion Lancers (3-0, 3-0) take five of the top nine places.

Thousand Oaks junior Amanda Armstrong, winner of the Channel Islands Invitational on Saturday, didn’t run after twisting her ankle during a workout Tuesday.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Montana State d. CS Northridge, 15-3, 15-13, 15-12--Holli Sierra had 10 kills and Ellie Flato had 28 assists, but the Matadors (10-7, 3-4) were swept by the Bobcats (11-6, 2-2) in a Big Sky Conference match at Bozeman, Mont.

MEN’S SOCCER

The Master’s 5, Pacific Christian 3--Rusty Brooke scored two goals for the Mustangs (6-7-0) at Pacific Christian (8-3-1).

Kris Bage had six saves for Master’s, which scored three times in the last six minutes of the first half to overcome a 2-1 deficit.
