Winds Cause Scattered Valley Power Failures
Winds blowing through the San Fernando Valley at speeds of 25 to 35 mph caused power outages Saturday night affecting as many as 1,500 customers, a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power spokeswoman said.
At 5:30 p.m., high winds disrupted an electrical circuit, knocking out power to 800 businesses and households in the Van Nuys area, DWP spokeswoman Treva Miller said.
Power was restored about two hours later, she said.
About 700 other customers scattered throughout the Valley also lost power Saturday night, Miller said.
By 10 p.m., power had been restored to all but about 250, she said.
