DALLAS COWBOYS (3-2) at WASHINGTON REDSKINS (3-2)

* Kickoff: 6 p.m.

* TV: Channel 7.

* Storyline: Are the Cowboys about to be thrown off their perch and trampled by the Redskins, Jaguars, Eagles and 49ers the next four weeks? Running back Emmitt Smith is no longer feared by defenses, and quarterback Troy Aikman has lacked the creativity to compensate for Smith’s shortcomings and put the Cowboys on his back and carry them. If there’s anything left in Smith, this is his chance against one of the worst run defenses in the league. A year ago the Cowboys faced a similar win-or-else situation in Philadelphia and, despite falling behind, 10-0, they came back to win. The Redskins could have been in first place by themselves had they taken care of business against Philadelphia last week, but Washington has failed to play tough when the pressure is increased. A year ago the Redskins opened 7-1, and when someone mentioned the playoffs, they folded.

* The Line: Cowboys by 2 1/2.

* The Pick: Cowboys.
