Barry Not Shooting Off at Mouth

Share

Brent Barry, who can be as sarcastic as his father, Hall of Fame guard Rick Barry, didn’t gloat after his debut as the Clippers’ starting shooting guard in Saturday’s 98-94 exhibition victory over the Vancouver Grizzlies.

Barry, who averaged 7.5 points, 2.6 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 18.5 minutes last season, made five of eight shots, including two of three three-point shots, and scored 13 points in 24 minutes.

Barry says he still has a lot to accomplish before the Clippers open the regular season Oct. 31 at Phoenix.

“I was talking with Darrick [Martin] and Loy [Vaught] and Lamond [Murray] and I think it’s just a matter of getting the rust off, and we’re looking at the next three exhibition games to sharpen up.

“I think we’ve got a long ways to go,” Barry said. “But as Coach [Bill Fitch] told me, it was just a highly publicized practice. We’ve been working on things in practice and now we get a chance to see what we can do against an opponent.”

The Clippers will play the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday in LaCross, Wis., before playing the Lakers on Friday in St. Louis in the final game of the trip.
