Angel outfielder Jim Edmonds underwent arthroscopic surgery on both knees Thursday. He is expected to begin rehabilitation immediately and should be ready by spring training, Angel officials said.
Edmonds had torn cartilage removed from his knees at Anaheim Memorial Hospital by Dr. Lewis Yocum.
Edmonds played in 133 games and hit .291 with 26 home runs and 80 runs batted in, but was bothered by a variety of injuries for the second consecutive season. He played in 114 games in 1996.
