2 Held in Dumping of Body Off Freeway
Police have arrested two men and are searching for a third in connection with the killing of a man whose body was dumped off the Garden Grove Freeway.
The body of Steven Preston, 32, who had addresses in Garden Grove and Huntington Beach, was found Monday beside the freeway near the Knott Avenue exit, police said.
After talking to the victim’s friends, investigators learned he had argued with Wayne Weston Burleson, 20, over money and a girlfriend, Sgt. Mike Mittelstaedt said.
Joseph William Wehrly, 18, of Westminster and Joel David Baptiste, 20, of Garden Grove admitted to helping dump the body, Mittelstaedt said. They were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of accessory to murder, he said.
Police are searching for Burleson, who they believe shot Preston in the neck, Mittelstaedt said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Westminster Police Det. Terry Selinske at (714) 898-3315, Ext. 336.
