Three Second-Half Touchdowns Spark Aliso Niguel

Three touchdowns in the second half helped Aliso Niguel roll to a 31-7 nonleague victory over Santiago on Friday night at Aliso Niguel.

Aliso Niguel quarterback Jared Hill rushed in from two yards to give the Wolverines a 14-7 lead midway through the third quarter.

Almost four minutes later, the Wolverines (1-2) scored again on a 39-yard field goal by David Waltzman.

With 9 minutes 33 seconds left in the game, Jason Moore caught a 54-yard pass from Hill, giving Aliso Niguel a 24-7 lead.

On the next possession, Rich Hada returned a fumble by Santiago (1-2) 24 yards to close out the scoring for the Wolverines.

Nathan Eggins led the attack for the Wolverines, rushing for 113 yards in 18 carries and a touchdown.

Santiago tailback James Thomas was the only highlight for the Cavaliers. He rushed for 121 yards in 16 carries and scored their only touchdown at the end of the first quarter.

“We haven’t been beaten on this field since 1995,” Aliso Niguel Coach Joe Wood said. “We haven’t played well when we’ve been down, but tonight we came out strong in the second half.”
