Hold that career obituary on Marcus Allen.

Kansas City’s seemingly ageless running back did not say he would play another year, but after scoring two touchdowns in the Chiefs’ 20-17 overtime victory over the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, he didn’t say he wouldn’t.

“I’m just taking it one year at a time,” said Allen, 37, who rescued the Chiefs on a day when they made enough mistakes to lose to just about any team. “I’m not thinking that far ahead. I’m going to enjoy myself because I think we have something special here.”

This was the ragged game for the Chiefs (4-1), who went into the season with 12 new starters.

But they won anyway, overcoming Elvis Grbac’s three interceptions and a host of other mistakes when Pete Stoyanovich kicked a 41-yard field goal with 1:56 left in overtime.

“Early on, I think everybody realized we were going to go through some growing pains,” said Allen, who has 137 career touchdowns. “But what’s happened is guys have grown up faster than a people realized.”

Safety Jerome Woods, one of the four second-year men starting on defense, intercepted Warren Moon’s pass and returned it 13 yards to midfield. Nine plays later, including Allen’s leaping vault on third-and-one, Stoyanovich kicked the game-winner and the Chiefs had a four-game winning streak and their 12th victory in 13 games against the Seahawks (2-3).

Seattle’s Todd Peterson was wide left on a 58-yard field-goal attempt as time expired in regulation.
