Thousand Oaks Band
Congratulations to the Thousand Oaks High School Band for being picked to march in the Rose Bowl parade!
As the parent of a class of ’96 band member who is now a member of UCLA’s marching band, I know how hard everyone worked to earn this honor. I remember when extracurricular activities were just another part of a school’s budget, unlike today when it falls on the parents, kids and faculty members to raise the funds for anything extra.
Sports and music are such an important part of the educational experience and help our kids build confidence and self-esteem.
It is important to recognize all the people who made this success possible, including the band booster parents, many local businesses for donating products and cash, Los Robles Golf Course for donating a golf cart, City Councilman Andy Fox for assisting in a number of ways and many others too numerous to list.
It does, indeed, take a village, and Thousand Oaks is one of the finest.
