Lemmerman’s Home Run Lifts Sea Kings to 11-10 Win
Corona del Mar second baseman Nate Lemmerman hit a two-run homer with one out in the seventh to upset No. 4 Santa Margarita, 11-10, in Sea View League baseball Thursday at Corona del Mar.
The Sea Kings (5-7, 2-5) handed the Eagles their first loss in league by hitting five home runs. Ty Harper had two three-run homers in the third and fourth, and Ryan Achterberg led off the first and sixth innings with home runs.
Santa Margarita fell to 11-3 and 6-1.
In South Coast League baseball:
Trabuco Hills 6, Mission Viejo 5--Trabuco Hills’ Eric Bowden scored on Scott Anderson’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning. Bowden had two hits and scored twice and Mike White had one hit and two RBIs for Trabuco Hills (8-5, 4-3).
Mission Viejo is 8-6, 3-4.
In Sea View League golf:
Santa Margarita 189, Corona del Mar 218--Medalist Max Wallick led Corona del Mar with a one-under 35. Ryan Dwight shot a 36 for Santa Margarita (6-2, 5-1).
In the Sunset League:
Fountain Valley 194, Huntington Beach 197--Andy Anderson shot a one-under 35 in the loss for Huntington Beach (7-3, 3-1). Sophomore Ryan Robertson and senior Eric Hird each shot a 37 to lead Fountain Valley (8-2, 4-0) at Mile Square.
Los Alamitos 207, Edison 215--Eddie Chu shot a four-over 40 for Los Alamitos at Sea Cliff. The Griffins are 8-3, 2-2 in league.
Kyle Wicks shot a 38 for Edison (6-5, 0-4).
In Garden Grove League softball:
No. 3 Pacifica 10, Santiago 0 (5, mercy)--Jessica Soto pitched a no-hitter and struck out eight. She walked one batter in the second inning. Toria Auelua had a triple and RBI for Pacifica (12-2, 4-0).
In the Golden West League:
Rosary 8, Santa Ana 2--Senior pitcher Christy Ledford (5-5) struck out eight batters in four innings, giving up only one hit for Rosary (11-5, 1-0). Santa Ana is 7-7, 0-2.
Tustin 10, Saddleback 0 (5, mercy)--Melody Reff pitched a no-hitter and was one error away from a perfect game. She faced 16 batters, struck out five and walked none. Tustin is 6-7-1, 2-0 and Saddleback fell to 0-3, 0-1.
In the Sea View League:
No. 4 Woodbridge 1, No. 10 El Toro 0 (10)--Erica Greenberg tripled against El Toro starter Susan Churchwell to start the 10th and later scored on a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Jill Oliver. Greenberg had three hits in the game and Christy Robitaille (9-1-1) struck out nine and walked one for the visiting Warriors (15-3-1, 2-0).
No. 7 Santa Margarita 11, Newport Harbor 0 (5, mercy)--Sophomore Danielle Rodriguez and freshman Nicole Wiebort combined in the no-hitter for Santa Margarita (11-1-1, 1-0).
