A 39-year-old motorcyclist from Thousand Oaks was killed Wednesday after he slammed into a car that turned in front of him, authorities said.

The motorcyclist was heading east on Thousand Oaks Boulevard approaching La Baya Drive about 5:45 p.m. when a Volvo traveling west turned left onto La Baya Drive into the path of the motorcyclist, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Rick Smith.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, slammed into the right rear door of the Volvo, he said.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. His name was not released pending notification of relatives.

The three occupants of the Volvo were taken to Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks.

Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, authorities said.

A preliminary investigation indicated the driver of the Volvo was at fault in the crash, Smith said.

“That’s what it looks like at this point--the investigation is continuing,” he said.
