Share

Erin Whiteside

Women’s Basketball

Whiteside, a 6-foot-1 junior center, scored 21 points in each of Fullerton’s two games last weekend, shooting 76% from the field on 19 field goals in 25 attempts. However, Whiteside’s effort wasn’t enough to keep the Titans from losing both games. The Titans were beaten by Florida State, 84-73, and Oral Roberts, 82-70, to drop to 2-7 for the season.

Whiteside, who played in high school in Littleton, Colo., is averaging 13.3 points and 8.5 rebounds for the season. She is shooting 59.2% from the field and ranks among the Big West Conference leaders in rebounding.

THIS WEEK

Men’s basketball: After disappointing performances against Saint Louis and Portland on the road, the Titans (5-3) will try to get back in gear at home at 7 p.m. tonight against Quincy, a Division II team from Illinois. The Titans lost their last two games by 34- and 43-point margins. Ballhandling was a trouble spot in both games. The Titans had 26 turnovers against Saint Louis and a school-record 32 Saturday night at Portland. Fullerton also plays at San Jose State, a former member of the Big West Conference, at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Titans have lost their last three games and six of the last seven against the Spartans.
