Mike Rossiter, formerly of Burroughs High, has signed a minor-league contract with the Colorado Rockies.

Rossiter, a right-handed pitcher, split time last season between double-A Mobile and triple-A Las Vegas in the San Diego Padre organization.

Former JetHawk Miguel Correa also signed with the Rockies.

BASKETBALL

The Master’s College plays host to its inaugural women’s basketball tournament Jan. 1-2, featuring NAIA powerhouse Wayland Baptist University of Plainview, Texas.

The Flying Queens, who are ranked No. 2 and have made 14 appearances in the NAIA national tournament in the last 16 years, will open the two-day event at 5 p.m. New Year’s Day against Western Baptist of Salem, Ore. The host Lady Mustangs play Westmont at 7:30 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL

Professional player Shaney Fink will conduct a beach volleyball camp for boys and girls ages 13-18 Monday through Dec. 30 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in Santa Monica.

Cost is $15 per day.
