Dark horse: Sonora (16-7) has been banged up all year, but last week nearly came from behind to beat Troy, the third-seeded team in II-AA. Jaymee Pendergast and Pacifica could stand in their way in the second round.

Though Brea is out of the division, three of the four semifinalists return--seeded 1-3. . . . Pacifica won its fourth consecutive Garden Grove League title. The Mariners are led by Jaymee Pendergast and are trying to improve on last year’s showing, when they lost in the second round to second-seeded Ocean View.
