Communities to Team Up for Holiday Event

Concerns about funding for the Fourth of July Spectacular have been alleviated by an agreement between Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Cypress and Seal Beach.

Pledging money and public services, the communities will split the $21,000 cost of the annual event, highlighted by a fireworks show.

Los Alamitos committed $8,000 plus staff for the event, which drew 26,000 spectators last year to the Los Alamitos Armed Forces Reserve Center.

Cypress and the Rossmoor Community Services District will handle remaining costs. Seal Beach will provide police and public works employees.

Each city council or community board decided independently how much to commit. When Los Alamitos allocated funds in October, officials raised some concern about where the remaining money would come from.
