Barry’s Heel Hurts Too Much

Share

Guard Brent Barry sat out Saturday’s game because of a sore left heel.

Barry, who missed eight of nine shots and scored a season-low three points in Thursday night’s 18-point loss to the Detroit Pistons, complained that his foot hurt after the game.

Barry has missed 15 of 19 shots in his last two games. He suffered the injury in a 28-point loss to the Pistons on Jan. 11.

“It’s gotten to the point where the pain is unbearable in the morning,” Barry said. “I have no lift and explosiveness. Take those two things away from me and I’m behind the eight-ball.

“I’m not getting any better and I’m not helping the team.”

Barry decided that he couldn’t play at the shoot-around.

During the 18-point loss to the Denver Nuggets, his worst fears were realized.

“I just hope we come out and play with some intensity,” Barry said before the game. “We need to come out and bury them. I just hope we play with some intensity. This team has lost 23 games in a row and they’re hungry.”

Guard Pooh Richardson hadn’t played in five consecutive games and seven of the last nine, but he played 13 minutes against the Nuggets, making one of four shots.
