AROUND THE LEAGUES
Robert Crabtree (Cal State Northridge) is 1-0 and unscored upon in two appearances since being promoted to double-A Shreveport, La., by the San Francisco Giants. He pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings Tuesday after getting a victory in a two-inning stint Sunday.
Crabtree has struck out five and walked one in 3 2/3 innings, maintaining the exceptional strikeout-to-walk ratio he established at Class-A Bakersfield. The right-hander tore up the California League, striking out 67 and walking eight in 59 innings. He was 6-1 with a 0.99 earned-run average, which led the league.

Jon Schaeffer (Harvard-Westlake), catcher for the Fort Wayne Wizards, went seven for 11 with two doubles and a home run last weekend in a three-games series against Wisconsin. Schaeffer played first base last week in the Midwest League all-star game and reached base three times.
